Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Technology Actively Participates in National Afforestation Campaign
In line with its commitment to promoting environmental awareness and sustainability, the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Technology actively participated in a large-scale afforestation campaign organized by the university in celebration of National Tree Planting Day. The event was held under the patronage of Professor Dr. Mohsin Noori Hamzah, President of the University of Technology, and supervised by Professor Dr. Alaa Abdulhady Jaber, Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department.
The campaign saw significant participation from faculty members and students of the Mechanical Engineering Department, alongside the Scientific Assistant, Professor Dr. Khawla Salah Khashan, and the Administrative Assistant, Professor Dr. Farhad Mohammed Othman, as well as heads of branches and faculty members from various departments. Participants contributed to planting trees across the university campus, emphasizing the importance of environmental preservation as part of the department’s scientific and engineering mission.
The Mechanical Engineering Department highlighted that this participation aligns with its efforts to promote sustainability and apply engineering solutions for environmental protection. The department is actively integrating sustainability and clean energy concepts into its curricula and field activities to prepare engineers who are conscious of their responsibilities toward the environment and society.
Participants expressed pride in this environmental initiative, stressing the importance of afforestation in reducing pollution and improving the quality of life both on and off campus. They also reaffirmed the department’s continued support for such initiatives, which reflect the university’s awareness of its environmental responsibilities
