16th Student Festival
Under the theme “Mechanical Engineering and its Role in Technological Development,” the Mechanical Engineering College/General Mechanical Engineering department at the University of Technology organized its 16th Student Festival. This annual tradition aims to showcase the work of final-year students in their graduation projects.
The festival aims to provide students with the opportunity to present their scientific projects, reflecting their understanding of the theoretical aspects and transforming them into practical solutions that keep pace with technological development and meet the needs of the local market.
The session opened with a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and Surat Al-Fatihah for the souls of the martyrs. This was followed by speeches by the Dean of the Mechanical Engineering College, Professor Dr. Alaa Abdulhady Jaber, and by the Head of the General Mechanical Engineering department, Prof. Dr. Sattar Jaber Habib.
The session then began with a lecture delivered by Dr. Saad Sabah Karam, Director of Al-Nafth Thermal and Environmental Systems Company. He offered valuable advice to students on the importance of acquiring the skills that qualify them to enter the labor market in both the public and private sectors. The festival included several activities, most notably a specialized scientific session to discuss projects, in addition to organizing a scientific poster exhibition. The submitted projects demonstrated a clear diversity of topics, covering various fields of mechanical engineering, with a focus on sustainable and innovative solutions with a societal and economic impact.
This year’s participation was distinguished by a high level of organization and scientific presentation, demonstrating the department’s commitment to enhancing students’ research and guiding them toward adopting analytical engineering thinking mechanisms to address real-world problems. The event concluded with the distribution of certificates of appreciation and thanks to the scientific and preparatory committees for their efforts in making this academic event a success
