Automotive Engineering Students Experience Cutting-Edge Industry Practices at SAS Lexus Automotive Services
In line with the Mechanical Engineering Department’s – Automotive Engineering Branch’s commitment to enhancing practical education and connecting students with cutting-edge industry practices, third-year students conducted an exceptional field visit to SAS Lexus Automotive Services in Baghdad, a premier provider of luxury vehicle after-sales services.
The visit was organized under the supervision of Professor Dr. Alaa Abdulhady Jaber, Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, and coordinated by Dr. Sajda Sabri Faris, Head of the Automotive Engineering Branch. The student delegation was accompanied by:
• Dr. Akeel Zeki Mahdi
• Assistant Lecturer Muhannad Mohsin Marah
• Assistant Lecturer Iman Abdul Sahib
The visiting delegation was welcomed by Engineer Ahmed Thabet, Maintenance Manager, and Mr. Ali Firas, Occupational Safety Officer, who conducted an extensive tour of the company’s facilities, including:
1. The premium showroom displaying the latest Lexus models
2. Comprehensive sales services division
3. Advanced maintenance workshops featuring the most current diagnostic and repair technologies
Students participated in an immersive professional session, expressing particular appreciation for:
• The sophisticated technical infrastructure
• Operational excellence demonstrating Japanese quality benchmarks
• The invaluable opportunity to connect classroom theory with real-world automotive engineering applications
This educational visit forms part of the Mechanical Engineering Department’s continuous initiative to:
