Launch of the First Stage of the “Three-Minute Competition” for Graduation Projects in the Mechanical Engineering Department
The Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Technology has launched the first stage of the “Three-Minute Thesis Competition” for undergraduate graduation projects. The event took place on Thursday, March 6, 2025, in Dr. Munir Al-Mudhaffar Hall, where a group of outstanding students competed to present their research projects before a judging panel.
Following the presentations and evaluations, the scientific committee announced the winning project submitted by the students:
• Moltaqa Fadhil Sabeeh
• Muntadhar ali hussain
• Mundhir haleem Matroud
Their project, from the General Mechanical Engineering Branch, was titled:
“Lightweight with Strength Relationship of Mechanical Parts by Using Topology Optimization.”
The winning project was supervised by assist.prof Najmuldeen Yousif Mahmood
The judging committee consisted of a distinguished group of faculty members from the department, including:
• Prof. Dr. Hassan M. Alwan – Member
• Prof. Dr. Mahmoud A. Mashkour – Member
• Assist. Prof. Dr. Amar Sadun Abdul-Zahra – Member
• Assist. Prof. Dr. Ihsan A. Baqer – Member and Rapporteur
• Prof. Dr. Ekhlas M. Fayyadh – Chairperson
Based on the scientific evaluation and research content of the project, the students qualified for the second stage of the competition at the university level, where they will compete against winners from other departments in the final round.
This competition provides students with a valuable opportunity to develop their presentation and public speaking skills, as well as enhance their research and scientific capabilities. We wish all participants the best of luck and encourage students to prepare for future editions of the competition.
